Challenging Studies and Opportunities

Equipping The Saints courses have a twofold purpose. First, they seek to teach and train the saints with indepth studies of God's Word. Secondly, they provide opportunities for lay individuals with teaching and preaching gifts to build a platform for personal gifts development.

Through the years Maranatha has been blessed with many fine teachers and mentors. The Equipping the Saints avenue is a place where individuals can realize their contribution to the body and take their teaching gifts to a higher level.

“THE FEASTS OF ISRAEL” - Karen Kruger
Passover, Unleavened Bread, First Fruits, Pentecost, Trumpets, Day of Atonement, and Tabernacles are feasts that the Hebrew Children were commanded to celebrate yearly.  Why did God ask them to celebrate these feasts?  Why all of the blood sacrifices of innocent animals?  As Christians, many of us don’t understand the details of the Jewish roots of our faith & salvation through Jesus. In this class, these questions will be answered in more detail:  why God instituted these feasts, what they accomplished for the Hebrew children during the Temple Days, how Jewish people celebrate them today, how Jesus has fulfilled some & will fulfill others when He returns to the earth & how Christians need  to relate to these feasts.

“NEHEMIAH” - Jaci Waite

While Nehemiah has been touted as a biblical study of leadership, and indeed it is, it also contains a variety of lessons for us as we progress along the journey of becoming more like Christ.  We’ll look at the characteristics Nehemiah’s life demonstrates as he fulfills God’s purpose. We’ll investigate the historical and geographical landscape of the time as we take a glimpse into Nehemiah’s personal journal.  We’ll perform an expository study of this book as we learn line upon line, precept upon precept, from one another.

“HOW WE GOT OUR BIBLE - DISCERNING WHAT IS SCRIPTURE” - Pastor Steve Maxfield
Where did our Bible come from?  Why were some books accepted while others have been disqualified?  The Bible contains 4 accounts of Jesus’ life, but Christians in the first few centuries knew of at least 50 accounts.  Sorting out which books were authoritative was sometimes a controversial process.  Come and learn the answers to these and many other questions as we dig into biblical history together.
