Maranatha Christian Church was started with just a handful of believers in the basement of the Old Brick Church in Williston, Vermont, in January of 1978 by Pastor Vincent Circello. The August 1978 campmeeting held in a tent out behind the church resulted in tremendous growth in the size of the body.

In the summer of 1979 the congregation moved into the renovated sanctuary upstairs in the Old Brick Church, but by the Spring of 1980 had outgrown the Williston church and moved to the Essex Junction High School, where the body remained until early in 1987.

In December 1982 Pastor Richard Callahan became Maranatha's Christian Church second and present senior pastor.

In May of 1984 Maranatha purchased seven acres of land on South Brownell Road in Williston, Vermont, and in April 1987 moved into its new church home.
